Strategy of intercession based on the book of Acts 19
The following information is intended to define what kind of strategy is going to need to be developed before the crusade “Mexico Prays”.
Strategy of Intercession to “Turning a city upside down”
When we dive into Acts 19 we find that there was a huge demonic influence in Ephesus:
Ephesus had a principality ruling over the city during the first century.
“But when they realized he was a Jew, they all shouted in unison for about two hours: “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!” The city clerk quieted the crowd and said: “Fellow Ephesians, doesn’t all the world know that the city of Ephesus is the guardian of the temple of the great Artemis and of her image, which fell from heaven? (Acts 19:34, 35 NIV)”
Note: This principality (Artemis) is the same called (the Queen of Heaven) Ishtar, mentioned in Jeremiah 44:17-22
“We will certainly do everything we said we would: We will burn incense to the Queen of Heaven and will pour out drink offerings to her just as we and our ancestors, our kings and our officials did in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. At that time we had plenty of food and were well off and suffered no harm. But ever since we stopped burning incense to the Queen of Heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have had nothing and have been perishing by sword and famine.” The women added, “When we burned incense to the Queen of Heaven and poured out drink offerings to her, did not our husbands know that we were making cakes impressed with her image and pouring out drink offerings to her?” Then Jeremiah said to all the people, both men and women, who were answering him, “Did not the Lord remember and call to mind the incense burned in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem by you and your ancestors, your kings and your officials and the people of the land? When the Lord could no longer endure your wicked actions and the detestable things you did, your land became a curse and a desolate waste without inhabitants, as it is today. (Jeremiah 44:17-22 NIV)”
“The children gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough and make cakes to offer to the Queen of Heaven. They pour out drink offerings to other gods to arouse my anger. (Jeremiah 7:18 NIV)”
This Principality was Ishtar, The Mesopotamian goddess of love and fertility
(Note: This is the same Principality that is ruling Mexico for at least 500 years, [under the name “La Virgen María”], provoking that millions of Mexican people die without Jesus.)
Note: In recent years another expression from this same principality came to the surface
[under the name of: “La santa muerte”] that currently is worshiped by at least 2 million Mexican people
– These two idols are leading [politicians, social media, drug cartels, education, economy, homosexuals, lesbians], among others.
– During more than 90 years, The gospel of Jesus has been preached in México, bringing hope and transformation. Mexico currently has the population of 112,336,538 million with 6.7% being Christians [Thats 7,370,000] in the whole country.
According to (INEGI) The National Institute of Statistics and Geography, México City has a population of 15,175,862 million people, (2014)
How did The Holy Spirit lead Paul to deal with this principality [Diana] and conquer this territory and make a huge transformation in Ephesus?
1.- By the conviction to see each disciple filled with the Holy Spirit, to establish the kingdom of God.
He was assured that all the disciples of Jesus Christ were baptized with the Holy Spirit. (This is not negotiable) Each intercessor must have the baptism with the Holy Spirit.
“While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” So Paul asked, “Then what baptism did you receive?” “John’s baptism,” they replied. Paul said, “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. (Acts 19:1-6 NIV)”
2.- By the establishment of a school to equip the believers for 2 consecutive years.
“Paul entered the synagogue and spoke boldly there for three months, arguing persuasively about the kingdom of God. But some of them became obstinate; they refused to believe and publicly maligned the Way. So Paul left them. He took the disciples with him and had discussions daily in the lecture hall of Tyrannus. This went on for two years, so that all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord. (Acts 19:8-10 NIV)”
3.- By the demonstration of the power of the Holy Spirit.
“God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them. (Acts 19:11, 12 NIV)”
4.- By the recognition of establishing spiritual warfare in three different levels.
Ground Level –
“As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give. (Matthew 10:7, 8 NIV)”
“Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, “In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.” Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. One day the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding. When this became known to the Jews and Greeks living in Ephesus, they were all seized with fear, and the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honor. Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed what they had done. (Acts 19:13-18 NIV)”
Occult Level –
“A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas. In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power. (Acts 19:19, 20 NIV)”
Note: Mexico has a lot of this practice (We need to equip all of the intercessors to subdue any kind of occultism, divination, witchcraft, black magic, Santeria, idolatry, sorcery, among others)
Heavenly Level –
“And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. (2 Corinthians 4:3, 4 NIV)”
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12 NIV)”
After that Paul established in Ephesus one of the seven churches in Asia, inspiring the whole region.
About a decade after the church had been started, Paul wrote a letter to the Ephesians commending their faith and love. A careful reading of this epistle shows that they had done well. They appeared well organized and busy. During these early years they had been growing, expanding and doing the will of God. He commends their sincerity (Ephesians 6:24). Teaching is to Christians what watering is to plants – necessary and strengthening (1 Corinthians 3:6). Timothy (1 Timothy 1:3-4), Acquila and Priscilla (Acts 18:25), and Apollos had all spent time watering the Ephesian church. It should have been one of the most thoroughly instructed of all the first-century congregations. The picture now is a well-watered and self-sufficient church.
